Upgrading to Openoffice 3.1

by glore2002 » 2009-09-09 09:51

Hello!

I have openoffice 3.0 installed on my Lenny 64 bit system. I would like to upgrade it to Openoffice 3.1. I've downloaded de .de packages from:
http://download.openoffice.org/other.html#es

What steps do you recommend to me to follow to upgrade the package? Should I uninstalled first? If so, How?

Thanks in advance,
Glore2002

Hi!
An example In short steps:

Add
Code: Select all
to your sources.list,
update repositories, and then:

apt-get install -t lenny-backports openoffice.org

That will install OpenOffice 3.1.1 (today, september 9) and after this you must to specify your desktop:

apt-get install -t lenny-backports openoffice.org-kde

or

apt-get install -t lenny-backports openoffice.org-gnome

Remember always to add -t lenny-backports, else you will obtain OpenOffice 2.4 packages.
I hope that this will help.

Greetings from Chile

bye

Not to forget

Code: Select all

Then
Code: Select all

again after the first step.

I followed the procedure here and my upgrade went nicely.

A couple questions: a lot of messages were displayed during the install process, including lists of Suggested and Recommended packages:

Suggested packages:
    hunspell-dictionary openoffice.org-l10n-3.1 unixodbc openoffice.org-hyphenation openclipart-openoffice.org pstoedit libpaper-utils gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad libmyodbc odbc-postgresql libsqliteodbc tdsodbc mdbtools libmysql-java libpg-java libjtds-java openoffice.org-report-builder openoffice.org-style-industrial openoffice.org-style-hicontrast kde-icons-oxygen oxygencursors tango-icon-theme cli-uno-bridge ttf-mathematica4.1
Recommended packages:
    openoffice.org-filter-binfilter openoffice.org-style-crystal openoffice.org-emailmerge
Does anyone know which, if any, are needed to run the "Base" database? Which ones are needed to interface Base with mySQL?

Thanks much for any ideas.
